1469 Stewart, George R. Earth Abides First Edition Hard Cover Random House 1949 New York Very Good Very Good This book won the first International Fantasy Award in 1951. A classic novel of an Earth ravaged by disease. Great jacket art by H. Lawrence Hoffman. The book is in solid very good condition with light shelfwear and moderate bumping/rubbing to the spine ends. Internally, the first endpaper is lightly toned, but the remaining pages are clean and free of markings. The binding is firm. The dust jacket is price-clipped, with rubbing and light chipping to the top edge (starting at the top spine end and going around the rear panel). There is also a short tear and chip to the lower edge of the front panel. Previous owner attempted tape repairs with non-archival tape. So there is a slightly noticeable tape shadow to the front panel tear, and to the inner top edge around the spine. Noted flaws aside, the book is still attractive, and the dj is covered with a brodart. Protected in an acid-free bag. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall Box Z-26, Fiction $625.00 Place Order

1267 Thompson, Hunter S. The Balance of Terror 2 CD CD Audio CD-R 1977 As New A 2 cd set of a Q and A Forum held in Boulder, Colorado sometime in 1977. Hunter talks of Nixon, Politics, Rolling Stone, Vietnam, writing, journalism, drug use, and generally has fun with those in the audience. There's not much left to be said about Hunter's departure. For myself, I felt a loss the moment I heard the unconfirmed reports of his suicide that Sunday evening while I was climbing the Grapevine driving thru sheets of rain. Very fitting. And to quote a buddy of mine who knew & did business with Hunter: The world is a far less interesting place without Hunter. Indeed. The sound quality is nice and clear. CD1 runs 44.6 minutes, and CD2 runs 34.5 minutes. These will run on most PC and Mac platforms, and any home/audio system. I say most because there's always that eccentric system that refuses to cooperate whether it's supposed to or not. I've tested this set on both a PC and a Mac, and both a home and car cd player. Each disc comes with a printed label in a slim case. Home $25.00 Place Order

2105 Whistler, James M. Anacapa Island & East End of Santa Cruz Island US Survey Facsimile Unbound Sheet Fine This is a facsimile of the Rare Antiquarian 1856 US Coastal Survey Chart by James M. Whistler of Anacapa Island in Santa Barbara Channel and the East End of Santa Cruz Island. A single sheet of thicker stock paper, measuring approx 9in high x 24in wide. Under President Thomas Jefferson, surveys were made to the US Coasts to aide in the expanding maritime industry. The commission was headed by Ferdinand Hassler and started in 1816. After Hassler's death in 1843, he was succeeded by Alexander Bache. These charts were accurate devices for precise navigation at the time. The original maps were produced by lithography, and the lithographic process again was used to create this facsimile reproduction print. The plate was made from the expensive original print to ensure complete and accurate detail. No tears or creasing. Will ship rolled, in an acid-free bag, packaged in a box to avoid crushing. Suitable for framing. James Whistler 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall $10.00 Place Order
2104 Whistler, James M. Smith's or Blunt's Island & Anacapa Island US Survey Facsimile Unbound Sheet Fine This is a facsimile of the Rare Antiquarian 1854 US Coastal Chart by James M. Whistler of Anacapa Island in Santa Barbara Channel and Smith's (or) Blunt's Island in Washington. A single sheet of thicker stock paper, measuring approx 11 1/4in high x 9in wide. The lower part of this print, the map of Anacapa Island, contains the headland view which was engraved by the major US artist James Whistler who lived from 1834-1903. Whistler took on a job in the employ of the US Coast Survey as a draftsman after failing his studies at West Point. He was soon fired from this job for being too artistic (he included flying birds). He prodced very few maps while in their employ, but this one has special significance for the reason stated above. These Western US Coast Survey Maps are scarce and desirable. Most fragmented apart under constant use, as they were serious tools of the expanding maritime trade of the time, started under the administration of Thomas Jefferson. The original charts were produced lithographically, as is this print. Integrity to detail is held to a high degree as the printing plate for this facsimile was taken from a negative of an original print from 1854. No tears or creasing. Protected in an acid-free bag with acid-free backing. Suitable for framing. James Whistler 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall $10.00 Place Order

This is a solid very good READING copy showing light reading stress & shelfwear, but with heaving staining to the once white textured coveres (could actually clean with a nice eraser). The binding is firm. Internally clean and free of markings. Protected in an acid-free bag. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall Box Z-35, Counterculture $8.00 Place Order
